About THS Peers
THS Peers began as a late-night idea between two brothers at Tenafly High School - Omri Rosenthal and Itay Rosenthal - who kept hearing classmates say the same thing: the help they needed was already in the building, but there was no simple, trusted way to connect.
Before writing a single line of production code, they invested time in research and product thinking: they clarified the problem statement (how students could find tutoring opportunities, and how staff could expose students to those opportunities), identified personas (tutors, tutorees, and guidance), and sketched flows and priorities on whiteboards. That early work - problem framing, audience definition, and lightweight wireframes - shaped what the site would become instead of rushing straight into development.
Omri wanted a fast directory that celebrated tutoring hours for transcripts and college apps. Itay wanted something staff could trust - school emails, transparent approvals, and clean reporting. They sketched the first screens on a homework break, argued over orange-vs.-black contrast for an hour, and landed on the palette that still defines the site today.
What you are using now is that idea made real: students helping students, with guardrails that respect our school community and the mentors who support it.
