Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 3, 2026
THS Peers (“we,” “us”) is operated for the benefit of the Tenafly High School community. This policy explains what information we collect when you use this site, how we use it, and steps we take to protect users, including students who may be under 18. If you are a parent or guardian, please read this policy with your student.
Who this applies to
The service is intended for current Tenafly High School students and staff involved in the peer tutoring program. Use of a school-affiliated email address and school oversight are part of how we keep the community appropriate and safe.
Information we collect
- Account and profile. Information you provide when you register or update your profile, such as your name, school email address, role (for example tutor or student), subjects, and optional profile details you choose to share.
- Authentication. If you sign in with Google, Google shares limited account information with us according to Google’s settings and your choices. We use it only to verify your identity and operate the service.
- Messages and tutoring activity. Content you send through on-site messaging and records related to tutoring sessions and hours, as needed to run the program and meet school reporting expectations.
- Technical data. Standard server and security logs (for example IP address, browser type, timestamps) to keep the site secure, fix errors, and prevent abuse.
How we use information
- To create and manage accounts, match tutors and students, and display directory information you choose to make visible.
- To communicate about your account, approvals, and program updates.
- To support school staff and administrators in supervising the program and complying with school rules.
- To protect safety, enforce our Terms and Conditions, and meet legal obligations.
Children and students under 18
Many users are minors. We do not knowingly use the service for unrelated marketing to children. We collect only what is reasonably needed to operate peer tutoring for the school community. If you believe we have collected information from a child in a way that should not have occurred, contact us (see below) and we will work with the school to address it.
Parents and guardians with questions about student information at school should also contact Tenafly High School through normal school channels, in addition to the contacts listed on this site.
Who can see your information
Visibility depends on what the program is designed to show (for example tutor profiles for students who are looking for help). Authorized school staff and site administrators may access information as needed to run and supervise the program. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for sign-in, security, and site functionality (for example keeping you logged in where applicable). You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may limit features.
Data retention and security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, consistent with school needs and applicable law. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the service; no online service can guarantee perfect security.
Third-party services
We may rely on service providers (for example hosting, email, or sign-in with Google) who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements. Those providers have their own privacy policies describing their practices.
Your choices
You may update certain profile information through your account where the site allows it. You may contact us or school staff about corrections or concerns regarding information connected to your participation in the program.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
